Goal
The goal of this website is to inform clients and referring veterinarians about the surgical staff and the philosophy of our surgical service. |

Mission statement
To be a leading international centre for the treatment of surgical diseases in companion animals and a world class surgical training institute for veterinary students, surgical residents and veterinarians, alike.
|
The main objectives are:

Education
- Enhance educational opportunities for students enrolled in the veterinary curriculum at KVL and improve educational techniques and innovations in educational skills.
- Maintain a surgical residency, in which young veterinarians are trained to become specialised surgeons and obtain European College of Veterinary Surgeons board certification.
- Provide post academic training for veterinarians.
Research
- Stimulate new and innovative research to improve the quality of life of our patients.
- Set up collaborations with other research facilities within and outside of the university.
- Maintain a PhD programme for young, promising veterinarians that aspire further training in surgical related research.
Clinical excellence
- Provide up-to-date and excellent surgical care for our patients.
- Supply a caring and compassionate surgical service to our clients.
- Develop innovative techniques to decrease morbidity during and after surgery.
- Cultivate faculty that are experts in clinical research and that actively participate in research to improve new surgical therapies.
- Provide the highest standard of professionalism to students, patients, clients and colleagues.

We especially welcome referrals from other veterinarians concerning:
- Spinal surgery (backs)
- Orthopaedic cases, including TPLO and total hip replacements
- Advanced oncologic diseases
- Minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic OVE, exploratory and biopsy
- Arthroscopy
- Thoracic surgery
